The Spears Chapel
The Spears Chapel is a place for private worship. This chapel was built in honor of the Spears family who have had at least three generations in the ministry with seemly another generation following the footsteps of the ones before them. The bell in the bell tower has been placed on permanent loan to Abbie Lane from the Lemoine and Janie Adams family. On the inside the old wood on the platform is from the old family house of LT and Abbie Dickson, the parents of Nancy Dickson Spears. The wood is over 150 years old. The old pump organ, built around 1897, was an anniversary gift (#30) to Nancy from her husband Wayne. There are six stain glass windows on the side walls. The front and center medallion stain glass was designed and made to reflect the focal purpose of Abbie Lane - to walk on holy ground and meet God. In front of the chapel there is a uniquely designed cross called the "Empty Cross." The name is self explanatory. Opposite of the cross is the "Buning Bush." This is a metal bush that ignites with fire as you walk close to it. Welcome to the Spears Chapel, the focal point of Abbie Lane.
